Otown Handyman FAQ'sFrequently Asked Questions: Hardwood Flooring, Installation and Repair
Q: Can I put hardwood flooring over an existing tile floor? A: No. You can't. The tile will have to be removed, the thin set that adheres the tile to the floor must be removed and the floor will have to be perfectly smooth before you can install a hardwood floor. Q: How did some of my flooring get discolored? A: Either your flooring became wet or the sun has discolored your flooring. Direct sunlight will fade your flooring over time. For a longer lasting floor keep direct sunlight off of your hardwood floors. Q: Why does my hardwood floor crackle when I walk on it? A: The reason it crackles is because it either got wet and has buckled causing the glue to lose its adhesiveness, or it was installed improperly. To repair it, the affected flooring must be removed and replaced. |
